Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submissions

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the submission system  to the editor.
Authors are advised to follow the Author Guideline in preparing the manuscript before submission.

Publication Ethics

The researcher/author must not engage in plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Plagiarism such as verbatim or copying, or paraphrasing without any proper citation, of text, data, or other material containing results of another person’s work, without explicit identification of the source of such material. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited in JOMSS and texts that are identified as plagiarism or their content are fraudulent will be removed from the journal as quickly as possible.

The researcher must exercise care of research ethical for publishing only original research. The manuscripts may be reviewed and deeply screened during the whole editorial cycle, including the submission process, and until the final publication.

The confidentiality will be maintained before any clarifications or complaints that an author wishes to send to the committees of the journal.

Open Access Policy

JOMSS journals provide immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public. Copyright for articles published in JOMSS journals is retained by the authors. It is the author’s responsibility to bring an infringement action if so desired by the author.

Author guidelines

Authors should submit only papers that have been carefully proofread and polished. Before submission please make sure that your paper is prepared using the JOCSSES paper template. Acceptance or rejection notification will be sent to all authors.

Submitted papers MUST be written in English only.

Manuscripts should be typed in MS Word, should be in English, and should be sent online only via e-mail to the editor.

References should be provided and not less than 15 references. If the references provided are less than 15, the editorial board has the right to reject the submission

Length For individual papers, a length of between 4,000 - 8,000 words is acceptable. This excludes tables, figures, and references or should not exceed 25 pages.

The author should use The Times News Roman and 11 font size with single spacing. Refer to the template provided.

Publication ethics guidelines exist to guarantee high-quality research publications, public confidence in scientific discoveries, and credit for their study and ideas.

Article Assessment

All manuscripts are subject to peer review and should follow academic performance requirements. The submissions shall be accepted by peer reviewers, whose names remain confidential to their authors, as authorized by the publisher. Our editorial team will periodically pursue guidance on, for example, serious legal, security, biosecurity, and/or society implications outside of regular peer review. Before deciding on suitable measures, we can contact experts and the Academic Editor, including hiring reviewers with special experience but not limited to evaluating additional editors and refraining from further consideration.

Peer review process

JOMSS is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Every paper submitted to the JOMSS for publication is subject to peer review. The peer review in this journal is an evaluation of the submitted paper by two or more individuals of similar competence to the author. It aims to determine the academic paper's suitability for publication. The peer review method is employed to maintain standards of quality and provide credibility of the papers. The peer review at Journal of Social Science proceeds with the description as follows.

  • The corresponding or submitting author submits the paper to the journal. This is carried out via an online system supported by the Open Journal System (OJS)
  • The submitted paper is first assessed by JOMSS editor. The editor checks whether it is suitable with the Journal focus and scope. The paper's composition and arrangement are evaluated against the journal's Author Guidelines to make sure it includes the required sections and stylizations. In addition, an assessment of the minimum required quality of the paper for publication begins at this step, including one that assesses whether there is a major methodological flaw. Every submitted paper which passes this step will be checked by Turnitin to identify any plagiarism before being reviewed by reviewers.
  • The Editor-in-Chief checks if the paper is appropriate for the journal, sufficiently original, interesting, and significant for publication. If not, the paper may be rejected without being reviewed any further.
  • The handling editor sends invitations to individuals who he or she believes would be an appropriate reviewer (also known as referees) based on expertise, the closeness of research interest, and no conflict of interest consideration. The peer review process at JOCSSES including Management, Economics, Culture, Law, Geography, and Education that involves a community of experts in a narrowly defined field of Social Science who are qualified and able to perform reasonably impartial review.
  • Potential reviewers consider the invitation against their own expertise, conflicts of interest, and availability. They then decide to accept or decline. In the invitation letter, the editor may ask the potential reviewer for the suggestion of an alternative reviewer, when he or she declines to review.
  • The reviewers allocate time to read the paper several times. The first read is used to form an initial impression of the work. If major problems are found at this stage, the reviewers may feel comfortable rejecting the paper without further work.
  • The Editor-in-Chief and handling editor consider all the returned reviews before making an overall decision. If the reviews differ widely between both reviewers, the handling editor may invite an additional reviewer so as to obtain an extra opinion before making a decision.
  • The editor sends a decision email to the author including any relevant reviewer comments. Reviewer comments is sent anonymously to the corresponding author to take the necessary actions and responses. At this point, reviewers are also be sent an email or letter letting them know the outcome of their review.
  • If accepted, the paper is sent to copy-editing. If the article is rejected or sent back to the author for either major or minor revision, the handling editor will include constructive comments from the reviewers to help the author improve the article. The author should make corrections and revise the paper per the reviewers' comments and instructions. 
  • f the editor is happy with the revised paper, it is considered to be accepted. Leveraging the feedback from the peer review process, the Editor will make the final publication decision. The review process will take approximately 2 to 4 weeks. The category of decisions includes, The accepted papers will be published online and all are freely available as downloadable pdf files.

Malpractise statement

Journal of Organizational Management and Strategic Studies (henceforth JOMSS) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards for all parties involved in the act of publishing in a peer-reviewed journal- the author, the editor of the journal, the peer reviewer and the publisher. JOMSS publishing ethics are based on Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Conduct for Journal Publishers practised by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This covers all parties working with us in the publication process, from the contact point until the completion of the specified task. Authors are advised to go through the guidelines to be aware of the consequences prior to submission. At the point at which the references are used both should be referenced, and wording reuse restricted and attributed to or quoted in the document. Manuscripts that have been considered to be plagiarised by other writers of a manuscript are disqualified or may be subject to rejection from publication.

Duplicate Submission

Manuscripts submitted to JOMSS publications must not be submitted anywhere and revoked until they are submitted somewhere else. Sanctions can apply to authors whose publications have been submitted elsewhere at the same time. If authors have used their work, or are now under examination, as a source for a manuscript submitted, they must mention the prior publications, and explain how their manuscript submitted varies from their previous work. It should be assigned or cited in the text the reuse of authors' words outside the process.

Fabrication and Falsification

Authors/researchers of manuscripts or written papers proven to have produced or falsified the findings, including image editing, may impose fines, and articles published may be retracted.

COPE STATEMENT

Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to be aware of, and comply with, best practice in publication ethics.

  • Authors are expected to be aware of, and comply with, best practice in publication ethics including but not limited to those pertaining to authorship (for example avoidance of ghost or guest authorship), dual submission, attribution, plagiarism, image integrity and figure preparation, and competing interests. Authors must also comply with JOCSSES policies on research ethics (human subjects research, animal research, global research). Details are provided below or in linked documents.
  • Reviewers and editors are required to treat manuscripts fairly and in confidence, and to declare any competing interests. Editors should also abide by the code of conduct for editorial board members.

We encourage readers to discuss the scientific contents of JOMSS articles directly with corresponding authors, either by emailing the corresponding author or posting a comment on the article’s JOCSSES webpage (see here for information about posting comments). Authors can request formal corrections to their JOMSS publications by emailing the journal office.

If you have concerns about potential errors, research or publication ethics, misconduct, or other issues pertaining to the integrity, validity, or reliability of a JOCSSES article or submission, please contact JOCSSES directly. To do so, email the JOMSS Publication Ethics team and cc the journal office.

JOMSS will investigate concerns raised about JOMSS submissions or publications regardless of the time since publication or study completion, and regardless of whether issues are raised internally, by authors, or by anonymous, pseudonymous, or named third parties. We will take steps to correct or clarify the scientific record if necessary, which may include issuing a editorial note, correction, expression of concern, or retraction. If we anticipate a delayed or prolonged follow-up period JOMSS may post an interim notice on the article(s) in question to make readers aware of the issues raised.

While JOMSS values transparency in scientific communications, we also protect the confidentiality of those who raise publication ethics or research integrity concerns, where possible, so as to minimize personal and professional risks to those individuals. We consider information and materials received in ethics case follow-up discussions as confidential, but we reserve the right to share relevant information with others involved in the case (e.g. editors, reviewers, other journals, affected data repositories), discuss the case at a COPE forum, and/or contact authors’ institutions, funders or regulatory bodies, in accordance with COPE guidelines.

All who raise concerns to JOMSS, inquire about issues raised to JOMSS, or are otherwise involved in publication ethics cases must comply with the Standards for Professional Conduct policy.
